Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, at Barbot Funeral Home, Hazen.

Adam was born on July 4, 1928, in Glen Ullin, ND, the son of John and Helen (Kitzan) Opp.  Adam was baptized, raised and educated in Glen Ullin.  Adam served in the United States Army from June of 1951 to November of 1951.  After his service in the military, he returned to Glen Ullin and worked construction, commenting often on helping construct Interstate 94 from Mandan to Dickinson.  On April 14, 1956, he married Violet Reb in Glen Ullin, ND.  Adam and Violet moved to the Hazen/Beulah area where he farmed and continued construction work and together they had nine children.  After many years of farming, Adam moved to Beulah and worked at Bronson’s Super Valu where he finished his career.

Adam enjoyed visiting with customers as he worked at the store in Beulah but his real passion was gardening.  If not helping the kids or grandkids, Adam could be found working in one of many gardens he had established.  Adam was an avid fisherman and enjoyed listening to old time music.  He also enjoyed playing pinochle and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Terrance (Margie) Opp of Fargo, ND, Debra (Wendell) Cook of Thornton, CO, Linda (Doug) Herrmann of Tea, SD, Elroy Opp of Hazen, Leland (Jennifer) Opp of Hazen, Ronnie (Kim) Opp of Hazen, Jessie Opp of Hazen, Darren (Patty) Opp of Pullman, WA, Vicki (Monte) Erhardt of Hazen; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin Opp of Glen Ullin and John Opp of Bismarck; four sisters, Alice Wetzel of Glen Ullin, Gladys (Roland) Fisher of Mandan, Hilda (Gary) Gappert of Mandan, Helen Bickel of Bismarck; numerous nieces and nephews.
