Brooks Bauer, 64, of Ryder, formerly of Beulah, died at his home on December 24, 2017.  A visitation will be held December 28, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST, December 29, 2017 at the Beulah Congregational Church, Beulah with Pastor Kent Sperry officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM CST at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Brooks was born in Hazen, ND on December 9, 1953 to Lester & Della Bauer. He graduated from Beulah High School and married Patricia Kruckenberg on March 12, 1971. They had three children, Shawn, Jason and Patrick.  Brooks spent 20 years and 1 day in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired in 1991 as a Chief Warrant Officer 04.

He was a beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather and did everything he could for his family.  In his retired days he loved to spend his time with his grandchildren, teaching them the many things he learned throughout his life. He also loved working in his vegetable garden, spending many endless nights watering it and watching it grow.  He loved hunting elk with his sons and looked forward to the day when he could take his grandchildren on their first hunts.  He also loved working in the shop with his sons, helping them build anything and everything.  He loved to see what they could create.

Brooks is survived by his wife, Patricia and their three children; Shawn and girlfriend, Stephanie, Jason and wife, Angela, Patrick and wife, Vanessa; his grandchildren, Trevor, Ashlynn, Samantha, Jadyn, Brook, Christian and Kamron. He is also survived by his mother, Della Bauer; sister, Connie and her husband, Lester Raszler; brother, Morris; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Bauer; his maternal grandparents, John and Amelia Wolf; paternal grandparents, Otto and Ella Bauer and several uncles and aunts.

In Lieu of flowers please make donations to Shriners Hospital for Children and St. Jude’s Hospital.
