CLARENCE ROHDE, 93, of Halliday, ND died Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. Services will be held at 10:00 AM MST/11:00 AM CST on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Halliday with Pastor Dorothy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Halliday Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CST, Friday at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Clarence was born on April 4, 1923 on the family farm near Halliday to William and Rosa (Berndt) Rohde. He attended country school in the Eagle Nest district. Clarence started farming in 1946 near the family farm. On October 21, 1955 he married Ida Beck and continued to farm until he retired in 1994 and moved to Halliday.

Clarence was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where he served on the church council for many years. He was also a member of the Halliday Civic Club and the Dodge Community Club.  Clarence loved farming and ranching, was an avid reader and a remarkable pinochle player.  He also enjoyed hunting and going to dances with Ida.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ida of Halliday; two daughters, Carolyn (Roger) Garlock of Arrey, NM and Lorraine Reiswig of Fargo, ND; one son, Eldon (Sandy) Rohde of Halliday; six grandchildren, Melissa (Gary) McDaniel, Boca Raton, FL, Elizabeth Rohde of Bismarck, Luke, Riley and Tanner Rohde of Halliday, Carl Rohde of Dickinson; one great-granddaughter, Courtney Paulson of Leeds, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law, Doug Reiswig; three sisters, Alma (Albert) Twogood, Lidia (Peter) Madson and Lula Rohde; and seven brothers, Louie (Violet), William, Albert (Florence), John, Alvin (Edna and Annie), Harley and Edwin.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
