Darlene Huber, 85, of Hazen, ND passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at her home. Services will be held at 2:00 PM CDT on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen with Pastor Kirk Peters officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Darlene was born in Beulah, ND on October 10, 1931, the youngest of six children born to George and Louisa (Koehler) Weigum. She was baptized into Christ and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen. Darlene was raised and educated in Hazen, graduating in 1950. She was active in school, leading the pep band on as a four-year majorette.

On January 1, 1952, Darlene married her high school sweetheart of 62 years, Eugene Huber at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Hazen all their married lives. Darlene devoted her life to her work as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in church as a Sunday school, confirmation and Bible school teacher. Darlene loved reading, history, making pickles, NDSU Bison football and watching classic movies. She was a founding member of the Hazen All Class Reunion committee.

Darlene is survived by one son, Mike (Cindi) Huber of Adell, WI; two daughters, Donna (Chris) Sorensen and Barb (Jerry) Finneman all of Hazen; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Eric and Josh, Brian and Brent, Teri and Tommy; four great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Lael Weigum of Roseburg, OR; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cat, Fritz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene; one sister, Agnes; and four brothers, Roland, Clem, Kelly and George.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Tom and Frances Leach Dialysis Center Foundation, St. Matthew Lutheran Church General Fund, Humane Society, Sakakawea Hospice or SMC Foundation.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
