David A. Creel

November 29, 1955 ~ December 16, 2017 (age 62) 62 Years Old

David A. Creel, 62, of Beulah, died on December 16, 2017, surrounded by family and friends at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST, Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Beulah with Pastor Kent Sperry officiating.  Burial will follow at the Beulah City Cemetery.

            Visitation will be 5:00-7:00PM CST, Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

            David was born November 29, 1955, at New Castle, WY to Joseph and Georgene (Kadramas) Creel.  David was raised in Dickinson, ND, until the age of 13, then moved to Zap, ND, with his mother and step-father, Kenneth Schulz.  On December 31, 1973, David married his high school sweetheart, Debora Hanks at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah.  David and Debora settled in Beulah, where they raised their daughter, Heather.  They welcomed son-in-law, Scott Funk into the family and were blessed with two granddaughters, Peyton and Taylor.  David worked at Beulah Lumber, Knife River Coal and Dakota Westmoreland until he retired.  He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.  David was a volunteer for the Beulah Fire Department and a member of the United Mine Workers.  While he enjoyed, softball, bowling, fishing and hunting, he most enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

            David is survived by his wife, Debora; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Scott Funk; granddaughters, Peyton and Taylor Funk; mother-in-law, Mildred Hanks, all of Beulah; three sisters, Jolene (Gary) Miller of Bend OR, Sue Creel of Sioux Falls, SD, and Sandy (Gale)  Michelena of Sheridan, WY; three brothers, Rev. Steve (Rev. Marilyn) Creel of Visalia, CA, Jim (Brenda) Creel of Cheyenne, WY and Dennis (Mona) Creel of Casper WY; numerous nieces and nephews.

            He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Kenneth Schulz; father-in-law, Harry Hanks; nephew, Nathan Sailer.

            The family requests that memorials be given to Sakakawea Hospice.

            Arrangements conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
