Donald Huber, 88, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017, at Knife River Care Center in Beulah, ND.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen with Pastor Elden Zuern officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hazen City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT, Tuesday, at Barbot Funeral Home, Hazen.

 Donald Theodore Huber was born August 19, 1929, in Hazen, ND, to Jacob and Emma (Baszler) Huber. He lived in Hazen nearly all his life, graduating from Hazen High School in 1947. Don married Charlene Fuchs in 1950 in Zap and they had four children: Tim, Tom, Betsy and Mark. Charlene passed away in 1968. On May 8, 1970, Don married Sharon Nelson Hilts, who had one son, E.J.  Don and Sharon had two children together, Dorothy and Zach.

In his youth, Don enjoyed spending time at his Uncle Ted Huber’s farm north of Hazen. As a young man, he delivered cream for Arrow Creamery and worked with his dad in the plumbing business. Later, Don became a Master Plumber and started Huber Plumbing. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling and playing cards. He was also an avid Hazen Bison sports fan. Don served as a Boy Scout leader for many young men, including 10 Eagle Scouts.  

Don is survived by his wife Sharon; son Tim and his wife Deb; daughter Betsy Reynolds and her husband Bryce; son E.J.; daughter Dorothy Lick and her husband Brad; son Zach and his wife Dannette; and one brother, John. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, three step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren, one nephew and four nieces, and special friends Jim and Arletta Schuh.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlene, two sons, Tom and Mark, his parents, and one sister, Greta Ollenburger.
