Dwight Arden Gappert, 55, of Bismarck, formerly of Stanton, died at his home in Bismarck on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM CDT on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Stanton with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Dwight was born in Hazen, North Dakota, on December 20, 1961, the son of Arden and Eleanore (Weber) Gappert.  He was the fourth child of a family of seven – the only boy. Dwight attended Stanton Public Schools and later earned his GED.

Dwight enjoyed watching football, especially his favorite team, the Miami Dolphins.  He also loved watching and playing basketball.  He enjoyed biking, playing tennis, reading, puzzles, watching game shows, especially Jeopardy, and most recently, snowmobiling. Dwight also loved to decorate for holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas, and attending family gatherings.

Dwight is survived by his mother, Eleanore Gappert of Stanton; sisters, Colette (Darrell) Itrich of New Salem, Vonette (Ron) Richter of Bismarck, Jacquolyn Hulm of Bismarck, Jodene (Wayne Clark) Gappert of Hazen, Shereen (John) Erickson of Bismarck, and Sandra (Tom) Schiermeister of Hazen; 17 nieces and nephews; and 14 great nieces and nephews.

Dwight was preceded in death by his father, Arden Gappert, and his grandparents August and Alma Gappert and Katherine and Andrew Weber.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
