HAROLD H. ENTZE, 81, of Golden Valley, died Thursday, October 13, 2016, at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah.   Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Friday, October 21, 2016, at the Knife River Care Center Chapel with Pastor Kirk Peters officiating.  Burial will follow at St. John Wittenburg Cemetery, rural Zap, ND.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Harold Henry Entze was born August 20th 1935, the youngest of 6 children, to Fred & Elizabeth (Renner) Entze, on a farmstead 11 miles south of Golden Valley N.D. He was baptized at home on Nov. 12, 1945, and confirmed on April 9, 1950, at Golgotha Lutheran Church in Golden Valley.  He attended rural school up through his eighth grade.  Harold continued farming and ranching up until June of 1958 at which time he was drafted for military service.  Upon returning home from service, he began employment in the construction industry, working in Bismarck ND.  Harold returned home to Golden Valley, and in 1962 began employment as a hired man with the Agatha Weigum family.  Through this employment Harold met his wife to be, Alice L. Weigum.

On August 12th 1962, Harold married his loving wife of 54 years, Alice Weigum, at St. John’s Wittenburg Church north of Zap.  On March 31, 1968, Harold and Alice became parents of their one son, Marlin David Entze.  Together they farmed north of Golden Valley up until 1971, at which time Harold, Alice & Marlin moved into Golden Valley. Harold began working in construction and later joined the Carpenters Union.  One of the many projects that Harold worked on was the construction of the MDU Coyote station smoke stack, from the ground up, 498 feet.  In December of 1983, Harold, Alice & Marlin returned to the farmstead north of Golden Valley, where he resided up until May of this year.  Harold loved to play pinochle.

Harold also had an instinctual love of farming and animals. The saying “I always felt closest to God when tending my Land” is most appropriate. Harold was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Golden Valley.

Harold was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. As of most recent, his greatest pride and joy was of his Great Granddaughter ShawMarie Jane Watkins (his little “Sweetheartly”).  He was also a generous man willing to help friends and family in any way that he could.

Harold is survived by his wife Alice of Beulah; his son and daughter-in-law, Marlin and Sarah Entze of Bismarck; his one granddaughter Alica Marie (Matthew) Watkins, & one great-granddaughter, ShawMarie Jane Watkins, Ellendale ND; and one brother, Robert Entze, Emerado, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Jake, Fred Jr., Arthur, and Emanuel.

Arrangements conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
