James Barron Horne, 79, of Zap, ND, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2017, at Sheyenne Care Center of Valley City, ND. A service will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah, ND, with Pastor Ed Langeleirs officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

James was born on February 23, 1938, in Florence, South Carolina, to Stephen Alexander Horne and Thelma Bernice (Hayes) Horne. James married his wife, Mattie (Millsap), of 40 years on December 10, 1976 in Chesterfield, SC. The couple moved to Zap, ND, in 1990 and made their home in Zap. They were members of the New Life Asssembly of God Church in Beulah, ND.  James enjoyed fishing and working on cars and spending time with his kids during his leisure time.  He had numerous jobs, including security and restaurant owner.

James is survived by his seven children, Bruce, Jimmie, Billy, Judy, Cindy, Stephen and Theresa; one sister, Nancy; grandchildren, Timmie, Dani, Nicole, Emily, Brynley, Will, Dylan, River, Bruce Lee and Rebecca

James was preceded in death by his spouse, Mattie; his parents; one grandchild, Lexys; two brothers, Joe and HL (Harry).
