James Lee Traxel, 56, of Dodge, ND died December 27, 2016. Services will be held at 2:00 PM CST on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Golgotha Lutheran Church, Golden Valley with Pastor Tom Olson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Dodge.

James was born on April 28, 1960 to Wilbert and Delphine (Weigum) Traxel in Hazen, ND. He attended Golden Valley Public School and graduated in 1978. After graduation he attended Bismarck Junior College where he studied auto mechanics.

In 1979, he married Susan Weisz of Dodge. He worked for Merrick during the construction of Antelope Valley Station in Beulah and transferred to Denver, CO for two years, after which he farmed and ranched north of Dodge and Golden Valley.

James enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and offering help wherever he could.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of Dodge; his mother, Delphine of Golden Valley; two sisters, Marilyn (Robert) Greenshields of Dodge and Darlene Traxel of Bismarck.

James was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Delores Weisz; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
