June 22, 1949 ~ July 20, 2017 (age 68) 68 Years Old

LINDA RAE SCHLENKER, 68, of Hazen, passed away on July 20, 2017, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Monday, July 24, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with Pastor Bruce Grentz officiating. Burial will follow at the Max City Cemetery, Max, ND.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 Sunday, at Barbot Funeral Home, Hazen.

Linda was born on June 22, 1949, at Minot, ND, the daughter of Lawrence and Helen (Kubicek) Mikkelson.  She grew up in Garrison, ND where she met the love of her life, Howard Schlenker.  Howard and Linda were married on February 28, 1966 and were blessed with three daughters, Worm, Hippie and Putsy.  They enjoyed a life filled with love until Howard’s death on April 29, 1998.  Linda remained devoted to and in love with her husband for the rest of her days.

Linda enjoyed crocheting, baking and cooking for her family and loved playing cards, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Linda’s beloved dog, Rosie, provided constant companionship and love until the end.

Linda is survived by her three daughters, Tina (Noial) Kauk, Bismarck, ND, Claudette Bertsch, Rapid City, SD, Jennette (Brad) McLaughlin, Hazen, ND; five grandchildren, Kayla (George) Bertsch, Bryon (Brianna) McLaughlin, Shanwia (Chris) Gertz, Josie Mclaughlin and Justen McLaughlin; three great-grandchildren and one on the way, Ayden, Amelio, Ahmarii and Baby McLaughlin; she is also survived by her special friend, honorary daughter and card playing “partner in crime”, Darci Grunett (Michael Smith); three brothers, Larry (Diane) Mikkelson, Gary (Bev) Mikkelson and Randy (Connie) Mikkelson all of Garrison, ND; one sister, Karen (John) Eisen of Cheyenne, WY; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; one sister, Kay Mikkelson.

Linda was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She was greatly loved by many people and will be dearly missed.
