Ruby was born on August 7, 1924 in Hazen, to Konrad and Melita (Bauer) Wiedrich. She was confirmed on April 10, 1938 in Zap and was raised and educated north of Hazen. Ruby married Albert Morast on November 5, 1944 in a country church north of Zap. They farmed in various areas of Hazen and Beulah before settling north of Hazen. The couple farmed until the early 1990s, when they moved into Hazen. In September 2008, Albert and Ruby moved into the Senior Suites in Hazen. Ruby and Albert had been married for 66 years before Albert passed away on January 27, 2010. Ruby moved into the Knife River Care Center in Beulah on December 7, 2015.

Ruby was a very active member of Peace Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school for many years, was a member of Mary Circle and spent many hours in the church basement making quilts. When attending church services became very difficult, Ruby looked forward to watching the church service videos. Ruby and Albert enjoyed playing cards and Ruby enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, quilting, and working on puzzles. Most of all, Ruby enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and reading her Bible.

Ruby is survived by two children, Zola (Rick) Scheid and Kim (Shiloh) Morast, all of Hazen; six grandchildren, Becky (Chris) Fix of Harwood, ND, Beth (Heath) Lessard of Bismarck, ND, Kayla (Brandon) Benz of Bismarck, Evan Morast and Sunny Brennan, both of Hazen, and Hannah Wolff of Hazen; 10 great-grandchildren, Liberty, Kayce and Beckett Fix, Paisley, Bodee and Croix Lessard, Lucca Benz, Stormy and Jackson Brennan, and Gage Morast; two sisters, Edna Miller of Hazen, and Lucille Pfenning of Beulah; four sisters-in-law, Edna Neuberger of Hazen, Marion Morast, Eleanor Scharosch and Janet Morast, all of Beulah, and Darlene Morast of Bismarck; and one brother-in-law, Walter Morast of Zap.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents; one grandson, Luke Warner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to SMC Hospice or the Sakakawea Medical Center Building Fund.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
