Wilbert H Flemmer

July 4, 1928 ~ July 26, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Wilbert H. Flemmer, 89, resident at the Knife River Care Center, went to his heavenly home surrounded by his wife and children on July 26, 2017.  Wilbert was dearly loved and will be missed. Services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at 2:00 PM CDT at the Beulah Congregational Church, with Rev. Frank Sapp Jr officiating. Burial will follow at the Beulah City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM CDT, Monday at the Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Wilbert was born on July 4, 1928, to Jacob P. and Helena (Winckler) Flemmer, at the family farm south of Beulah, ND. Wilbert was an avid singer and began singing in men’s gospel groups at the age of 16; a passion he shared throughout his entire life. Wilbert married the love of his life, Eleanor Martin, on August 22, 1954, at the Hebron Congregational Church, Hebron, ND. Together they farmed south of Beulah and raised three children. Wilbert was actively involved with the New Gleucksthal Congregational Church and the Beulah Congregational Church in numerous roles including Sunday School superintendent, deacon and choir member.  For many years, Wilbert served on the Beulah Famers Union Board and was involved with the Beulah Senior Citizens.  Wilbert was highly respected and loved by his family, friends and people in the community. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke with everyone he met. Wilbert’s family has fond memories of working with him on the farm and taking family vacations.

Wilbert is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Beulah; daughter Sheila and son-in-law Steve Hildebrand, Hazen, ND, daughter, Fayette and son-in-law Robert Coté, Otsego, MN; and son Ryan, Beulah, ND.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah Hildebrand, Nathaniel (Kelly) Coté, Jennifer (Benjamin) Sackett, Jeremiah (Alyssa) Coté and Nicaela (fiancé, David Pangborn) Coté; five great-grandsons, Neil, Nicholas, Oakley, Wyatt, and Everett.  He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Esther Flemmer, Bertha Kessler, Frieda Voegele, Hilda Voegele, Annie Voegele, Clemence Flemmer and Alvin Flemmer.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Sakakawea Hospice or Beulah Congregational Church.
