Ada Klindworth

February 23, 1924 ~ January 6, 2018 (age 93) 93 Years Old

The gates of heaven opened. And she was gone. What a wonderful Mom she was. Ada Klindworth, 93, Center, ND entered the heavenly gates on January 6, 2018 at Miller Pointe in Mandan, ND with family at her bedside. A celebration of her life will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Stanton, ND at 10:00 AM on January 11, 2018.  Visitation will be at Barbot Funeral Home, Hazen, ND on Wednesday, January 10 from 5-7 PM.

            Ada was born February 23, 1924 to Joseph and Hilda (Olander) Gustafson.  She was baptized and confirmed at the English Lutheran Church in Stanton, ND and graduated from Stanton High School in 1941.  After attending Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and Valley City College she began teaching at the Deapolis School for one year, the Murray Consolidated School in Beulah and then the next two years in Center.  After raising seven children she returned to teaching in Stanton for 26 years retiring in May 1988.

            In 1944 her high school sweetheart, Henry Klindworth, returned from WWII and they were married on Flag Day, June 14th, 1946.  In 1949 the couple moved to their current dairy farm where she worked alongside of Hank to develop Klindworth Dairy.

            Ada’s many interests included music, quilting, reading, visiting with friends and keeping up with family projects.  She loved to garden and canning her abundant produce, grew beautiful flower gardens, and feeding and watching the birds near her home.

            She taught the 7K’s (her kids) the love of music and they would entertain for many events accompanied by Mom on the piano and Dad playing the clarinet.  She spent endless nights making clothing for performances, school outfits and everyday apparel.      

            Mom said she was a “busy lady” belonging to quilters guild, Bible Study, 50 year American Legion Auxiliary member, Oliver County honorary Old Settler, 4-H leader, Homemakers Club member, Sunday School teacher and neighborhood friend.

            A yearly highlight was celebrating birthday trips with her five daughters.

            Ada is survived by seven children: Tracy (Doug) Merfeld, Marble Rock, IA; Larry (Kathy) Klindworth, Beulah, ND; Karen (Bill) Carpenter, Pennsville, NJ; Colleen (Leland) Reinholt, Center, ND; Judy (Jim) Backsen, Lake Ozark, MO; Dean (Lana) Klindworth, Center, ND; and Deb (Paul) Folk, Center, ND; 19 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Joyce Gustafson, and several nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Klindworth, an infant daughter, her parents, and brothers Arvid (Marilyn)  and Elmer.

            Arrangements conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
