ARTHUR “Art” EISSINGER, age 90, died peacefully on Friday, March 23, 2018, at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen, ND. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with Pastor Walt Wolff officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Art was born to Carl and Lydia (Lang) Eissinger in rural Logan County. He was baptized and confirmed in a rural congregational church near Wishek, ND. Art attended rural schools, and Wishek High School, graduating in 1947. He then attended Dakota Business College for one term. In 1950, he married Dorothy Brinkman at Zion Lutheran Church in Wishek. They then moved to Fargo and he worked for a national shoe chain, Wahl Shoe Company, being transferred to several states. In 1969, they moved back to ND and opened a clothing and variety store in Parshall, ND. After 20 years, they closed the store and sold for wholesale companies to stores. They spent several years working summers in Medora. Art loved traveling, camping, fishing, the Minnesota Vikings, playing pinochle, and singing in various choirs wherever he lived.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 67 years; four children, Steve (Eda) Eissinger of Henderson, NV, Bruce (Gail) of Glendive, MT, Christopher (Erin) of Boulder, CO, Lisa (Jerry) Ryan of Hazen; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and four brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
