Arthur "Art" R. Ziemann

Arthur “Art” Reynold Ziemann, 95, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND.  Following his short battle with cancer, his final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen, with Pastor Kirk Peters officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, at Barbot Funeral Home, Hazen, ND.

Art was born March 21, 1924, the son of August and Lydia (Knecht) Ziemann.  He grew up and attended school near Krem, ND which was north of Hazen.   He married Adeline Tesky on October 9, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church in Beulah, ND.   Art and Adeline lived on his home place where they farmed until June 1956 when they moved into Hazen.

Art worked on the Garrison Dam, farmed and did carpentry work, a trade he learned from his father and proudly passed on to his two sons.   Art enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, playing cards and pool, hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.  A hunting highlight for Art was getting a ND elk license and filling the tag at the age of 74.  He never missed a chance for a good card game or competitive cribbage game with his kids and grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Adeline; sons Art A. J. (Mary) and Allan (Sue), both of Mandan, daughter, Alicia (Ron) Haugen, Breckenridge, MN; grandchildren, Shaundra (Bob) Bolinske, Shannon and Keenan Ziemann, Matthew and Michael Ziemann, Austin and Carter Haugen; great-grandchildren, Drake and Blaze Bolinske; sister, Lorina Zuern, Hazen; sister-in-law, Elvera Ziemann, Bismarck; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Art was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings, Hilda Arndt, Harold Ziemann, Frieda Arndt and Eugene Ziemann.
