Calvin Kessler

July 23, 1935 ~ January 10, 2018 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Calvin Kessler, 82, of Beulah, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, Dixie Regional Health Center, St. George, UT. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Beulah with Pastor Aron Utecht officiating. Burial will follow at Gluechstahl Cemetery, south of Beulah.

On June 23, 1935, on the family farm, 20 miles north of Glen Ullin, ND, John & Anna (Lapp) Kessler opened the dresser drawer and found a baby boy, Calvin John Kessler.

Calvin attended Liberty farm school, graduating eighth grade. He worked on the farm with

his parents and 3 sisters and learned to be a good steward of the land.

 On September 12, 1956 Calvin married Jeannette Ann Kraenzel in Hebron, ND. They lived on the Kessler family farm working together to make a living and raising their six children. Calvin loved farming, ranching, breading and raising purebred Charolais cattle and traveling around the country with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Calvin enjoyed serving on many boards including Church Council, Moderator of Great

Plains Fellowship, Chairman of Missouri Slope Crusade for Christ, President of Purebred Stockmen’s Association, FHA Advisory Board, President of Mercer County Farm Bureau, Chairman of NFO Wheat Board, Lucky Valley 4-H Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Moderator of Badlands Bible Camp, Liberty School District bus driver and Board member of ND Charolais Association.

In 1992 Calvin took Jeannette to Florida for a three-month winter vacation. Calvin was offered a full-time job at an apartment complex followed by a job at JCPenney as Retail Technician Maintenance Supervisor. Calvin also attended night classes at Piper High School and received his diploma in 1997.

Calvin is survived by his wife, Jeannette of 61 years; their six children, John (Kaylen), Bruce, Karen (Daryl) Huber, Kristi (Bill) D’Amato, Keith (Deanna), Paul (Heather), 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Alan Miller, two sister-in-laws; Irene Roth, Mable (Hoerauf) Jesperson and numerous nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents John & Anna, three sisters; Loreine Schneider, Delores Remmick, Janet Miller, 2 brother-in-laws; Richard Schneider and Melvin Remmick, in-laws, Gust & Annie Kraenzel, brother-in-laws; Wilbert Hoerauf and Henry Roth.

Memorial donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House or ND Teen Challenge.
