Carol Boehler Obituary

Carol Boehler, 76, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Zap, ND, passed away suddenly and peacefully, on Nov 29, 2018 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo. She was surrounded by family and loved ones.

Carol Jean was born on March 10, 1942, was raised and educated in Beulah, ND, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Carol was the eleventh child born to Carl and Elizabeth (Weidrich) Zeller.

In 1959, she was united in marriage to Harvey Boehler of Zap. They started their married life in Wahpeton, ND, then later moved to Beulah.  In 1965, they moved their family of four to Southern California. Carol worked in the food industry where her hard work and dedication was rewarded with a promotion to management. The family of four grew to five and in 1974 they moved back to North Dakota, where Harvey had an opportunity to own his own business.  For the next 20 years she worked side by side with him. Carol was a people person who enjoyed visiting with the customers and handing out suckers to all the kids. Mom was a loving mother, caring grandmother and devoted great grandmother who always put her family ahead of herself and often went without so her children didn’t have to.

Carol enjoyed calling Bingo and delivering Meals on Wheels. She was past president of the Zap School Board and was a member of the Congregational Church of Beulah.  Mom was a great cook and her specialty was German food. She took great pride and pleasure cooking for her family and friends. When mom wasn't cooking or canning tomato juice by the gallon(s) for dad, you could find her with a book in her hand. She sure liked her romance novels and could have opened her own library.

In 2013, she moved to Fargo to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Having daily contact with her great grandchildren brought her the biggest enjoyment of her life.  She worked at Essentia Hospital where the favorite part of her job was holding and rocking babies.

Carol is survived by her three children, Connie Peterson of Fairview, MT, Bryce (Nancy) of Lisbon, ND, and Patricia Bradford (Tad Suess) of Moorhead, MN; six grandchildren, Christin, Stacey, Tyler Peterson, Bailey Boehler, Courtney, Kelsey Tesky; five great grandchildren; her siblings, Inez Renz, Florence Sailer, Mardell (George) Reichenberg, Eldon (Doris) Zeller and Gordon Zeller; her sister-in-law, Carol (Neal) Dallman; brothers-in-law, Orval Boehler and Dale Boehler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey; a great granddaughter; her parents; three sisters, Lillian Busch, Violet Rempfer, Marion Smith; and three brothers, Clifford Zeller, and infants, Raymond and Alden; and her close friend, Lindalee Boehler.

This wonderful sweet lady will by deeply missed by all who knew her. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.

Carol's memorial service will be held in Beulah, ND in the Spring of 2019, and  burial at the Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND will be held at a later date.
