CORA BELLE ALDERIN, 96, of Center, died peacefully surrounded by her children at her home on Monday, April 30, 2018. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Stanton, ND with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Burial will follow in Hensler Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT on Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Cora was born in Mandan, ND to Lora (Gregory) Jacob Eckenrode on May 12, 1921. She was the last born of seven children. She attended three different country schools before going to high school in Jamestown, ND and graduating in 1939. She received a teaching certificate and taught in country schools for three years. Cora married Kenneth Alderin in August 1942. The couple raised Registered Angus on the Clark Valley Ranch. Cora milked dairy cows for 55 years, retiring in April 1997. Cora then spent endless hours caring for her flowers and her garden. She loved watching and feeding the birds.
Cora was a member of the Ft. Clark Nazarene Church, until its closing. She taught Sunday school for 40 plus years. She was a member of the Deapolis Homemakers for 25 years and served as a 4-H leader, also for 25 years. Cora became a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in 2011. She participated in the church quilting club and the monthly Bible study.
Cora is survived by her children, Vickie (Todd) Lasher, Kent (Janet), Lee (Dawn), Charles (Janet) and Russell (JoAnn); 14 grandchildren, Laura (Jay) Kulsrud, Emily Lasher, Rachel (Nick) Parson, Brittany Lasher, Ryan (June) Alderin, Adam (Lori) Alderin, Erik (Allison) Alderin, Amanda (Shane) Talkington, Dustin (Danielle) Alderin, Andrew (Chelsi) Alderin, Chelsey (Cody) Feist, Brian (Brandi) Alderin, Corey (Emily) Alderin and Brady Alderin; and 18 great-grandchildren, Lane, Tanner, Ty Kulsrud, Emmett Parson, Jade, Noah, Lydia and Hannah Alderin, Abby, Hadley and Cade, Lee, Carlee, Zoey, Daphne, Jax, Aria and Bennett Alderin.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Earl, Glen and Archie; and three sisters, Elsie, Florence and Vera.
