Elizabeth (Wetzel) Fandrich

Elizabeth E. “Liz” Fandrich, 76, of Golden Valley, ND, passed away Friday, August 23, 2019 surrounded by her family at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. Services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Golgotha Lutheran Church, Golden Valley with Pastor Tom Olson officiating. A private family burial will take place at Hope Congregational Cemetery, Golden Valley.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT on Monday, August 26 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday at Barbot Funeral Chapel.

Elizabeth E (Wetzel) Fandrich was born to Ernestina and Carl Wetzel, Sr. on November 27, 1942 by a midwife in Glen Ullin, ND.  She married Norman Fandrich on January 29, 1965 and the couple had two daughters, Belinda and Tracy.

Liz drove school bus for Golden Valley School for 24 years and Beulah School for five years, for a total of 29 years.  She enjoyed keeping up with the accomplishments of the kids that were on her bus. When she wasn’t driving bus, Liz kept busy by milking cows, keeping the house and yard in order, gardening, fixing fence and tending to the other animals on the farm. She loved driving her four-wheeler and checking her cows.

 Liz enjoyed going to her daughters' basketball games.  She also enjoyed going to her grandchildren's activities and playing games with them.  Family time was treasured.

Norman passed away May 15, 2008 and Liz continued to ranch on the farm until her death.

Liz is survived by her children, Belinda (Robert, Jr.) Fitterer of Golden Valley and Tracy (Troy) Lecoe of Dickinson, ND; three grandchildren, Robert Norman Fitterer, Sage Elizabeth Lecoe and Tiayna Joelynn Lecoe; one brother, Hank Wetzel of New Salem, ND; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; her siblings, Bernice (Jerry) Rhone, Eleanor (Billy) Jones, Esther (Clarence) Sayler, Laverne (Leander) Johnson, Bill (Elsie) Wetzel, Carlie Wetzel and Richard Wetzel; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Wetzel.
