Henrietta, the baby of the family, was born July 3, 1935 at Rhein, ND in Oliver County during a late evening thunderstorm. She was baptized August 18, 1935 in the Rhein church and confirmed June 26, 1949 at Concordia Lutheran church in Beulah. Her parents were George and Klasina (Cornelius) Loning.
In 1945, her family moved to Beulah. Her father died the following year. In 1950, Henrietta’s mother married William Rettke and they moved to his farm south of Beulah.
