Katherine Bauer Obituary

Katherine Bauer, 100, of Beulah, ND passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Augusta Place, Bismarck, ND. Services will be held at 1:00 PM CDT on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Beulah Congregational Church, Beulah with Pastor Frank Sapp officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Congregational Cemetery, Golden Valley, ND.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Katherine Bauer, daughter of Fred and Magdalena (Fisher) Lorenz was born October 31, 1917 on the homestead, south of Dodge, ND.  She was baptized on December 16, 1917 and confirmed on July 12, 1931 at St. John's Lutheran Church, south of Dodge.  She attended rural school, then Dodge High School, and completed her GED later in life.

On October 3rd, 1941, she married Eugene Bauer at Tacoma, WA.  A short time later, they returned to North Dakota moving to the family farm south of Dodge, where together they farmed and ranched.

Upon retirement, Kate and Eugene spent 27 winters in Phoenix, AZ and summers in Beulah, where they enjoyed fishing.  Both enjoyed traveling in the US, Canada and Europe.

Kate was very hospitable and loved to be with her family and grandchildren.   She was active in the Congregational Church teaching Sunday school, participating and holding offices in the women's church circles in Golden Valley, Zap, Beulah and Phoenix.  One of her greatest achievements was competing and placing in the National Senior Olympics where she won many awards.

She is survived by her son, Gene(Clarice) Bauer of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Maxine (Mearldean Carlson) Evenson of Bismarck, ND and Bonnie (Bill) Trepak of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren;, 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert and Ervin Lorenz; two sisters Lydia Sprague and Edna Persling; and sister-in-law, Connie Hagen.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, two brothers and six sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Beulah Congregational Ladies Aid or the charity of your choice.
