Levi was born on July 17, 1935 in Stanton, ND to Emma (Maas) and Fred Sailer. He grew up and attended a rural school between Pick City and Stanton. Levi entered into the US Army in 1956 and served his country as a sharpshooter. Upon returning home from the service, he married Eldora Miller on October 31, 1959 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.

Levi was employed at several places throughout his life, including owning his own business. He worked as a truck driver, as a dozer operator on the Garrison Dam diversion project, was a custodian at Hazen High School, owned and operated Sailer Septic System and worked as a dragline operator at Glen Harold Mine. Levi retired from Glen Harold Mine at the age of 57 and continued running his septic business for many more years.

Levi greatly enjoyed polka music, taking care of his yard, playing cards, going to the casino and the Norsk Hostfest with Eldora, attending family reunions and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eldora; six brothers, Edmer, Rueben, Oswald, Eldor, Emil and Oscar; and three sisters, Frieda Heine, Elsie Rathjen and Edna Neuberger.
