LuVerne Dschaak Obituary

LuVerne Mae Dschaak, 85, of Beulah, ND, passed away from this life on January 18, 2020 at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah with Pastor Mary Lou Aune officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

LuVerne was born on June 19, 1934 in Halliday, ND to Otto and Magdelena (Hornberger) Wiedenmeyer. She was raised on a farm north of Halliday until 1950 when they moved to Zap, ND. It was there that she graduated from Zap High School.

On October 15, 1951, LuVerne married the love of her life, Ivan Dschaak at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Zap. Here they began their life together before moving to Beulah, where they started their family.

Most important in LuVerne’s life were her family and friends. Her soft hands always welcomed hugs and kisses from her grandchildren. She was a passionate woman who enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and preparing a meal to all who came to visit. Her pickles were one of the most popular items she made and the most requested. LuVerne spent many hours embroidering dish towels, knitting baby afghans and doing word puzzles.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ivan of Beulah; one daughter, Lila (Arnold) Nodland of Beulah; four sons, Steven (Sylvia), Bruce (Jancie), Brian (Cyndie), all  of Beulah and Brent (Lauri) of Bismarck; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Delwin (Mavis) Wiedenmeyer of Monroe, WA; one brother-in-law, Eldor Mai of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.

LuVerne will join Our Heavenly Father; her parents, Otto and Magdelena; two brothers, Eric and Wilbert Wiedenmeyer; four sisters, Hildegard Fenske, Delora Berberick, Norma Gilge and Elna Mai; one granddaughter, Sara Nodland; and one grandson, Brandon Nodland.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sakakawea Medical Center and Hospice for the exceptional care they provided for LuVerne.
