Marilyn (Riedlinger) Helm

Marilyn (Riedlinger) Helm, 73, of Beulah, ND, passed away on October 8, 2019, at Miller Pointe Nursing Home in Mandan. Services will be held at 2:00 PM CDT on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah with Rev. Toby Heller officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

 Marilyn was born on September 20, 1946 to John and Emelia (Martin) Riedlinger in Richardton.  She grew up on a farm north of Hebron, ND until the third grade and then moved to Hazen.  She attended and was confirmed at New Bethel Congregational Church in Hazen.  After her marriage she became a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Beulah.

She met and married her first love, Norbert Helm, on January 3, 1964 and made their home in Beulah, where they raised their two children, Jody and David.  On December 28, 1988, a few days before their 25th anniversary, Norbert passed away.

Marilyn moved to Bismarck in August of 2016 to be closer to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She resided at Maple View Memory Care until she was transferred to Miller Pointe in July of 2019.

Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandsons (who she proudly referred to as Grandma’s boys).  She loved to shop with her sister Arlene and get all dolled up.  She never went anywhere without being completely put together.  Through all her trials in life she always had a smile on her face and her faith never faltered.

She is survived by her children: daughter, Jody (Lorry) Barnick, Bismarck, and son, David (Bernadette Fergel) Helm, Center; her grandchildren: Krista (Ryan) Kurtz, Bismarck, Erika Barnick, Bismarck, Shane Barnick, Beulah, and Lakin Grahl, Bismarck; two great-grandsons: Khye Barnick, Casselton and Riley Kurtz, Bismarck; one sister: Violet (Lloyd) Schopp, Streeter; her brothers-in-law: Noel (Betty) Helm, Beulah, and Clifford (Diana) Helm, Bismarck; her sister-in-law: Patsy (Mark) Frafford, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Norbert Helm; her parents, John and Emilia Riedlinger; and her sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Bernard Pfenning.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
