Nancy Paulsrud, 83, of Beulah, ND passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Beulah Congregational Church, Beulah with Pastor Frank Sapp officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CST on Tuesday at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.
Nancy Elaine (Richardson) Paulsrud was born on June 15, 1936, at Jamestown, ND, a daughter of Lloyd and Emma Richardson. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1954. Following graduation, Nancy attended Wahpeton School of Nursing, graduating with her LPN degree. After receiving her LPN, she started working at Mercy Hospital in Valley City from 1956-1958. While working at Mercy Hospital she met the love of her life, Thomas Paulsrud, as he was a patient of hers. On August 1, 1959 she married Tom at Grace Methodist Church in Moorhead, MN. In their union of marriage, Tom and Nancy had two children, Dennis Paulsrud and Kathy (Paulsrud) Stiefel. Nancy and Tom moved to New Salem for five years as Tom had a teaching job there. After being there for five years, Tom received a teaching job in Beulah, ND so they packed up and moved to Beulah and this became their home.
While living in Beulah, Nancy taught piano lessons for many years. She had numerous students over the years and hosted Beulah’s first piano recital and continued the tradition up until her retirement. Nancy was a long time member of Beulah Congregational Church. Nancy’s greatest joy in life was being able to make everyone happy around her. She was the light in the room and the laughter in the air. Nancy was always full of joy and was a very quick witted woman and loved joking with everyone she visited with. She had a great sense of humor and always would lend an ear for anyone who needed one.  Some of Nancy’s favorite things in life was being able to host coffee parties. She always had a hot cup of coffee and dessert ready for whoever wanted to come in and sit down to visit. Nancy was always up for a game of cards and late night board games with her grandchildren. Nancy loved going camping with her family and cherished her grandchildren. You could always find Nancy cheering in the stands at her grandchildren's, Kordell and Katelynn, sporting events.
Nancy will be greatly missed by many. Her family would like to thank Beulah Knife River Care Center for taking wonderful care of Nancy while she was in the facility and all the wonderful doctors and nurses who have taken care of her throughout the years.
Nancy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy (Keith) Stiefel; four grandchildren, Kordell (Kristen) Stiefel, Katelynn (Todd) Weisenberger, Kari Hoe and Danny Fischer; one brother, Robert Richardson;  two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Paulsrud and Lucy Paulsrud; one brother-in-law, Leon Gilbreth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; son, Dennis Paulsrud; parents, Lloyd and Emma Richardson; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Myrtle Paulsrud; two sisters-in-law, Carolynn Gilbreth and Norma Richardson; and one brother-in-law, Duane Paulsrud.
