Otto C. Voegele, 88, of Beulah/Dodge, ND passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society, Lakota, ND. Services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Monday, May 27, 2019 at New Life Worship Center, Beulah with Pastors Drew and Christi Becker officiating.
Otto was born on December 28, 1930, south of Beulah to Christ and Ida (Flemmer) Voegele. He was also raised and educated south of Beulah. After school, Otto joined the military and served in the US Army. At a young age, Otto’s mother instilled in him a love of music and he learned to play guitar because of her influence. He became a well-known musician and played for many weddings and events. Otto began working for Knife River Coal in 1966 and retired from the mine after 30 years of employment.
Otto was a man of many talents in his lifetime. He was an auctioneer, a welder, an avid horseman and continued with his music. Otto had a great love for horses and enjoyed being a cowboy, always wearing his black cowboy hat. His greatest joy was spending time playing music with his five sons, of whom he was very proud.
Otto is survived by his sons, Jerry (Linda) of Beulah, Perry (Angelika) of Center, ND, Kerry of Dodge, Derry of Beulah and Berry of Mandan; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lenora Sayler of Bismarck, ND, Tillie (Garland) Martin of Valley City, ND and Delores Hall of Williston, ND; two brothers, Dan Voegele of Bismarck and Christ Voegele of Bowman, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Katie; his wife of 15 years, Rita; two sisters, Emma and Frieda; and two brothers, Reuben and Ray.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
