Rita (Neuberger) Larson

RITA LARSON, 77, of Beulah, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019, at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah.  A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CST, Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.  Burial will be 10:00 AM CST, Beulah City Cemetery.

Rita was born on May 6, 1942, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Evelyn Neuberger.  Her grandparents, Jake & Pauline Neuberger, cared for her until their age no longer allowed.  Rita then lived at the Luther Children’s Home in Fargo for a time.  Swanhild (Swanee) & Harold Morrison became her foster parents in Jamestown, where she graduated from Jamestown High School in 1960.  Her first marriage was to Jim Meidinger, who was the father of her two children, Rick and Jamie.  Rita lived in Lodi, California, for a time, and worked at a sewing factory, where she eventually became an instructor.  It was there that she began her career with the US Postal Service.  In the early 1970s, Rita moved to Zap, ND where she owned the Zap Inn Bar and Lounge, the Village Hut Clothing Store and the Little Dipper Bar.  Thereafter, she moved to Beulah where she served as a rural mail carrier for 29 years.  On October 28, 1994, she married the love of her life, Harvey Larson.  Harvey and Rita truly enjoyed their lake home at Lakeshore Estates.  They loved playing pinochle, gardening (specializing in onions), and spending time with friends, especially at the lake.  Harvey died on June 21, 2014.  Rita also enjoyed crocheting and reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Tweet of Acworth, GA; two granddaughters, Robyn and Lindsey Tweet, also of Acworth; her five great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Larry (Barbara Taketa) Larson of Clitherall, MN; her sisters-in-law, Beth (Mark McGrath) Larson of Prior Lake, MN, and Julie Larson of Bloomington, MN. 

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, her son, Rick, and her sister-in-law, Wendy Johnson, of Albuquerque, NM.
