Theodore "Ted" Pachl

Theodore (Ted) Pachl, 90, of Beulah, ND, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Friday, December 14, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beulah, with Father Kenneth Phillips officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM CST on Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the prayer vigil to begin at 7:00 PM.

Ted was born January 5, 1928, in South Heart, ND, the son of Vincent and Mary (Olheiser) Pachl. He was raised and educated in South Heart. He then enlisted in the Army where he served as a Private First Class. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. After graduation, he moved to Beulah where he worked at Liebelt Chevrolet, Adam Keller, and Knife River Coal Mine, retiring after 30 years of service.

Ted married Naomi (Weigum) on Nov. 24, 1953. They made their home in Beulah, raising their seven children. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Ted enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing, tinkering in his garage, gardening, and was an avid walker, visiting various community members along his route while looking for treasures along the way. He was known for his sense of humor, always ready to tease someone and loved when it was given back to him.

Ted is survived by his seven children, Kathy (Keith) Sailer, Bismarck; Lois (Brian) Scherer, Fargo; Margaret (Mardy) Dosland, Perley, MN; Randy (Kim) Pachl; Beulah; Diane (Orlan) Nelson, Kenmare; Leesha (Mark) Christensen, Cypress, TX; Gwen (Bernell) Schleske, Fergus Falls, MN. Thirteen grandchildren: Kendra Sailer, Kelsey (Jon) Ternes, Eric (Courtney) Scherer, Casey Scherer, Zachery Scherer, Kiley Dosland, Karley Dosland, Adam (Sara) Pachl, Keri (Kalvin) Larson, Lucas (Stacey) Christensen, Jade (Jacob) Studheit, Kaitlyn Schleske, Brittney (Derek) Barnes. Thirteen great-grandchildren: Kaiden and Corbin Ternes, Mattie Scherer, Ian and Isabel Scherer, Anson Pachl, Krew Larson, Theodore and Genevieve Christensen, Jolie and Sophie Studheit, Brooklyn and Emory Barnes. He is also survived by his siblings: Cecilia, Joey, Irene, Richard, Leo, Lavern, and Ernest.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Naomi; granddaughter, Kristen Nelson; parents, Vincent and Mary; siblings, Tony, Tillie, Ellie, Arnold, Margaret, Donald, and Regina.

Ted will be dearly missed but will remain in our hearts forever.

Memorials preferred to Knife River Care Center or Sakakawea Hospice.
