Vic Wilhelm, 87, Halliday, died peacefully on August 8, 2018, at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. Services will be held at 10:00 am MDT on Monday, August 13, 2018 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Halliday, ND. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm MDT on Sunday, August 12 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with a prayer service starting at 7:00.
Vic was born March 8, 1931 to Anton and Eva (Sautner) Wilhelm in Halliday, where he was raised and worked on the family farm. Vic was a member of “50 years In the Saddle Club” and a trustee for the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame for several years. He raised purebred Horned Herford cattle and had the first herd enrolled in the ND Beef Improvement Association. Vic participated in rodeo for many years and won many awards. He also showed cattle at all of the major shows.
In 1995, Vic married his wife, Donna of Halliday, and they lived east of Halliday. He loved livestock and tried to always have something around. Vic could always be found helping his friends and family in whatever way he could. Family was the most important thing to him. Vic also loved to travel.
Vic is survived by his wife, Donna; a daughter, Roxie (Donavan) Schmidt of Hudson, IA; three sons, Rod (Brenda) Wilhelm of Halliday, Rockey (Stephanie) Wilhelm of Scottsbluff, NE, and Robley Wilhelm of Grand Forks, ND; step-daughter, Tammy (Mike) Cozzens of Laurel, MT; three sisters, Emma Toney of Beulah, ND, Carrie Earnest of Lincoln, NE, and Georgia Wilhelm of Phoenix, AZ; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Les, Tony, Cliff, and Danny; and three sisters, Doris Steckler, Elaine Stefan, and Kay Schettler.
