Yolanda (Harwell) Ryan

Yolanda Ryan, 79, of Hazen, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST, Monday, January 29, 2018, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Hazen with Fr. Kenneth Phillips officiating. 

Yolanda was born July 13, 1938 in Danville VA, the third of four children of John and Edith (Rice) Harwell.  She married Greig Ryan on November 16, 1957 in Inglewood, CA.

They resided in California until 1972, when they moved to Parshall ND, where they lived until 1990.  Yolanda retired from Northrop Grumman Electronics in New Town in 1989, where she worked for 17 years as a Production Supervisor, Instructor, and Criteria Control Specialist.  In 1984 they spent three months in Taiwan training employees in electronics assembly as part of a technology exchange.

After retirement they moved to Spearfish SD for seven years, and then travelled full time for a couple of years.  In 1998, they settled in Hazen, where she lived until moving from Senior Suites to the Knife River Care Center in Beulah in 2015.  She enjoyed fishing, baseball, and playing slot machines.

Yolanda is survived by her two sons Jerry (Lisa) of Hazen ND and Mike of Parshall ND; three grandsons Robert (Jennifer) Andes, Lucas Ryan, and Reid Ryan all of Parshall ND; one sister Estelle (Tom) Lewis of White Bluff, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Greig; her parents; and two sisters, Aileen of Gastonia, NC and Fern of Clarkston, WA.

The family would like to thank the staff at Senior Suites, Knife River Care Center, and SMC Hospice for their loving care of Yolanda.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
