Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at St. Martin Catholic Church, Hazen with Fr. Thomas Grafsgaard officiating. Burial will follow at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery, Hazen.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Annie was born on April 22, 1938 south of Beulah on the family farm to Joseph and Susan (Hoepfner) Goldade. She was raised and educated in Oliver County. Annie was baptized and confirmed at St. Benedict Church. Her first communion was on June 16, 1946. On January 7, 1958 Annie married Archie Grosz. In 1986, they moved into Hazen. From 1987 until 2011 Annie worked at the Pioneer Park Retirement Home, Sakakawea Medical Center and Senior Suites. Her work ethic did not go unnoticed by any of her employers.
Annie enjoyed her 25 years on the farm milking cows and raising chickens, but her favorite “job” was raising her children. They have many wonderful memories of their Mother. When the kids were in trouble she often couldn’t catch them – all she would have had to do is ring the dinner bell! Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were also extremely special to her. Annie was a very talented lady, she loved to bake, cook, sew and crochet, she was well known for her buns and even had her own business card for custom orders. She was proud of the fact that she earned her GED around age 76. Another accomplishment of Annie’s was her ability to play her organ by ear. Wherever she went, the organ was sure to follow.
Annie is survived by five beloved children, Geraldine (Mark) Jackson, Gene (Marcelle), Diane (Clifford) Grant, Keith (Phyllis), Todd (Tracee); nine grandchildren, Katy (Bobby) Henwood, Amy (James) Solis, Abra (Rylan) Sundsbak, Teran (Drea) Grosz, Nicholas (Jess) Grant, Ryan Grant, Brandon (Nicole) Grosz, Brooke (Jared) Borlaug and Bridgett Grosz; 13 great-grandchildren (and one on the way!); sisters, Clementine Kottenbrock, Marion Teske, Helen Kuntz and Marlene Hoffman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Marshall; her parents; her sisters, Florence Keogh, Ida Teske and Pauline Pischel; her brothers, Steve and Jake Goldade; and her beloved father and mother in law – Albert & Ida Grosz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Martin’s Catholic Church are preferred.
