Arnold "Arnie" Mund

Arnie Mund is no longer upright. Arnold “Arnie” Mund, 81, of Hazen, ND passed away Friday, May 27, 2022. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen with Pastor Mark Martin and Pastor Janis Sloka officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arnie was born in rural Carson, ND on January 17, 1941, the son of Robert and Edna (McCarthy) Mund. Arnie was raised and educated in the Leith and Carson area. He worked as a mechanic in Leith until 1966 when he began working on power line construction. On May 5, 1972, Arnie married Eileen Kay Krause. The couple resided in Bismarck and Jackson, MN until they moved to Hazen in 1978. Arnie worked in housing construction and at Dakota Gasification Company during construction. He went on to work another 16 years at DGC until 1999 when health problems caused him to retire.

Arnie was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he was a member of the church council for many years and also served as a deacon.

He was survived by his children, Amber (Ben) Nelson and Darren (Nicole) Mund, all of Hazen; six grandchildren, Grace, Faith and Trinity Nelson and Liam, Lochlynn and Shanley Flowers; two sisters, Janice Mund and Alberta Arnold both of Bismarck, ND; three brothers, Donald (Virginia) Mund, Harold (Nancy) Mund and Ervin (Karen) Mund, all of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; his parents; one sister and brother-in-law, LuLu and David Andert; one brother, Leonard; one infant brother; and one niece, Joan Deal.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen or Camp of the Cross Ministries, Garrison, ND.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
