Arthur Flemmer, 94, of Bismarck, ND formerly of Glen Ullin, ND passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Burial will follow at Beulah City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arthur was born on October 10, 1929 on his grandfather’s homestead, 16 miles south of Beulah, to Phillip and Frieda (Buelow) Flemmer. He was raised there and educated in a rural school one mile north of the homestead. Arthur married Lucille Weigum on November 26, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah. The couple moved to the farm 16 miles south of Beulah. Arthur loved farming and the couple farmed and lived there until they retired and moved into Beulah in 2001. Arthur and Lucille were a wonderful couple and exceptional dance partners. Watching them at family wedding dances was always a joy.

In 2006, Arthur moved into Crescent Manor due to health issues. He resided there until October 10, 2023 when he moved into Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center because of a fall.

Arthur will be remembered for his devotion to God and his sense of humor. “Thank you grandpa for loving me. Thank you for being a wonderful man, for showing me what a husband, friend and grandparent should be.”

Arthur is survived by one son, Lynn of Bismarck; one daughter, Julie (Steve) Melby of Minot; one granddaughter, Sammy Flemmer of Bismarck; three great-grandsons, Ayden, Riley and Amarii; three sisters-in-law, Delfine Wiedrich of Garrison, Evangeline Treiber of Hebron, and Celestine Weigum of Beulah; many nieces and nephews; and his loving friend, Priscilla Haar.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; his parents; and Milton and Anita Flemmer, Erma and Adam Voegele, Leo Wiedrich, Floyd Weigum and Rueben Treiber.
