Bernice Adolf, 84, of Beulah, ND passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CT on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah with Pastor Kathi Nygaard officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM CT at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CT on Monday, April 21 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Bernice was born on October 12, 1940 at the Hazen Hospital to Martha (Link) and Fred Traxel. She attended school through the eighth grade in Hazen and went on to graduate from Beulah High School in 1961.
Bernice married Roy Adolf on June 25, 1961. The couple moved to Carson, ND until October 1961 when Roy was called back to military service in Oklahoma. When they came back to North Dakota, Bernice and Roy lived in Buford, Zap and eventually made their home in Beulah.
Bernice’s first job was washing dishes at the Arrow Café in Hazen. She also waitressed, cooked and cleaned in various locations. Bernice was active at Zion Lutheran Church and served two terms as secretary of the ACLW, was the chairperson for work groups and Bible circles. Her hobbies included crocheting, cooking, baking and gardening.
Bernice is survived by her husband, Roy; four children, Harlan Adolf of Beulah, Carol Adolf of Fargo, Cynthia (Sean) Timp of Marion, IA, and Mark (Renee) Adolf of Stevenville, MT; three grandchildren, Ashley Timp, Alexis (Andrew) Blakely and Paul Wienke; and two great-granddaughters, Nora and Kara.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, LuAnn Elder; and her brother, Dallas Traxel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Women’s Action Resource Center, Beulah.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
