"Ann" Bertha Annette (Cullen) Langeliers, 81, Bismarck, formerly of Pollock, S.D. graduated to glory and her heavenly home on Friday, August 2, 2024, at St. Gabriel's Benedictine Living Community.
A celebration service will be held at 2:30 PM CDT on Friday, August 9, 2024 at New Life Church, Bismarck, ND with Pastor Marc Eidahl officiating. Remembrance/Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the church.
Ann was born June 16, 1943 in Moscow, Idaho to H.A. (Tom) and Vera (Johnson) Cullen. She spent her early years in Pullman, Washington and Moscow, Idaho. She had many fond memories of time spent at her Grandpa Ole Johnson’s farm and orchard on Little Bear Ridge near Troy, Idaho. She also reminisced of precious times with her Aunt Lorraine Wischmeier and family.
When Ann was a teenager, she moved to Pollock, South Dakota with her mother and brothers, Ron and Mike. It was here she attended high school and met and married Edward Langeliers on October 4, 1960. They lived in Pollock where Ann worked at Borr’s Grocery Store and sold Avon house to house. During this time, they had three children: Ed Jr., Lori Ann, and Wendy.
In October 1970 they moved to the Langeliers’ family farm in Emmons County, ND. They milked cows, farmed, and later supplemented their income by raising and selling puppies. Edward retired in 2009, and they moved to Linton, ND. At this time, Ann took on a new role working in the activities department at the Strasburg Care Center. She moved into St. Gabe’s, Bismarck, ND on October 6, 2015, due to a severe stroke suffered in August 2015.
Ann loved a good thunderstorm and was a strategic card player. She and Edward played many hands of cribbage, pitch, and kings in the corner during their 61 years of marriage. She loved to win and skunking “Eddard” was always a good thing!
We wrote in Dad’s obituary that his life was marked by a deep faith in and love for his savior, Jesus. Mom was the one that had the first family encounter with a real personal Lord and Savior, and she became our spiritual cornerstone. She loved reading and studying the Word of God. She spent hours reading Christian literature and listening to Christ centered teaching tapes. She also loved attending faith building conferences. She truly has left a legacy of faith for her children and grandchildren.
Ann is survived by one son, Ed Jr. (Jean) of Beulah; two daughters: Lori Ann Strom (Todd) of Dickinson, and Wendy Maly (Kevin) of Forman; grandchildren: Maggie Payne (Matthew), Jon Langeliers (Kate), Majalisa Sarkar (Sourav), Levi Nelson, Brenna Strom, Jonas Strom, Katie Feist (Sammi Meyer), Matthew Feist (Lexi), Jesse Feist, Lauren Feist, Jeffrey Feist Jr, MacKenzie Maly, and Evan Maly; four great-grandchildren: Adeline, Hudson, and Emmett Langeliers, and Isaac Payne; brothers: Ole Johnson and William Cullen; sister-in-laws: Arlene Cullen, Sis Sjomeling, Alice Slagh, and Ruth (Kim) Stoecker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents: Tom and Florene Cullen and Vera and Loren Johnson; her brothers: Ronald Cullen, Mike Cullen, and Carl Johnson. Her father- and mother-in law, Lawrence and Katie (Quenzer) Langeliers; son-in-law, Jeff Feist; sisters-in-law: Joann Ryckman and Wilma (Langeliers) Davis, step-sister-in-law, Velma “Teenie” Quenzer; brothers-in-law: Vernon Slagh, Dale Davis, and Howard Sjomeling; one nephew, Jaden Heil.
