Beverly Rae (Berg) Kessler

Beverly Rae Kessler, 83, of Stanton, ND passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Sanford Health, Bismarck, ND. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CT on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Stanton with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Burial will follow at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, north of Stanton.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CT on Thursday, December 18 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Beverly was born on April 2, 1942 in Bismarck, ND to Raymond and Marie (Meyhoff) Berg. She was the oldest of seven children. Bev grew up and attended country school before attending high school in Bismarck and in Stanton, graduating from Stanton High School. On December 15, 1960, Bev married Raymond Kessler. The couple spent the early years of their marriage in Missouri, Washington and Wisconsin, due to Ray’s service in the U.S. Army. They eventually returned to North Dakota and resided in Mandan for several years with their three children, Dean, Karla and Kerry. In 1970, Bev and Ray purchased the family farm near Stanton. Bev had several jobs throughout her life. She worked as a nurse’s aide in Bismarck, at the Mercer County Courthouse and at Union State Bank, but her favorite job was at home, caring for her family and the farm.  

Bev had a love for gardening and for baking, especially apple pie! She also had a knack for sewing and knitting, making numerous gifts throughout the years. In past years, Bev loved to spend time with her special friend, Allen. They enjoyed going on road trips and drinking a good cup of coffee together. Above all, Bev cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bev is survived by her children, Dean (Frances) Kessler of Stanton and Karla (Jeff) Thomas of Hazen, ND; seven grandchildren, Derrick (Leah) Kessler, Kayla (Josh) Cotton, Tim Kessler, Cody (Gabriella) Thomas, Larry (Tracy) Kessler, Lacey (Larry) Shefstad and Lindsey (Jayme) Odegaard; 15 great-grandchildren; her special friend, Allen Karlin of Hazen; three sisters, Vicky (Dennis) Barnhardt of Lincoln, ND, Penny (Russ) Fischer of Bismarck, and Char (Curt) Henke of Liberty, MO; three brothers, Jim (Donna) Berg of Hazen, Tim (Ann) Berg of Sun City, AZ and Dan (Terese) Berg of Bismarck; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Williams of Miles City, MT and Jeanie Kessler of Bismarck; one brother-in-law, Bob Kessler of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; her son, Kerry; her parents-in-law; and her in-laws.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
