Brenda Weigum, 72, of Zap, passed away, Friday, January 3, 2025, peacefully at her home. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah, with Rev. Toby Heller officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah, with a family service starting at 7:00 PM.
Brenda was born September 12, 1952, in Hazen, ND, to Walter and Viola (Knell) Scheid. She was baptized into Christ on October 16, 1952, and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Hazen. She attended country school at Krem and later graduated from Hazen High School in 1970. Brenda grew up north of Hazen and thoroughly enjoyed life on the family farm.
Brenda married Dale Weigum on October 16, 1970, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hazen. They made their home north of Zap, raising registered Brown Swiss cattle and managing a cow-calf pair operation. They raised two children, Shanan and Tiffany. Brenda was very active with her children and community. She worked many years for Progressive Maintenance. Brenda also enjoyed working at Cenex, Kimi’s, and Promiseland Design. Brenda was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Brenda loved 4-H and was a leader for over 25 years. She also hosted two foreign exchange students. You could always find Brenda at the barns during the Mercer County Fair.
Brenda lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the simpler things in life. Her hands rarely idle as she poured her heart into many passions, which included crafting, sewing, puzzles, and gardening. Brenda’s kitchen was always filled with delicious German foods.
Brenda cherished every moment with her grandsons, whether watching their sporting events, showing livestock, or building Legos. She was so excited to welcome a new great granddaughter, Micah, this past year.
Brenda’s life was a testament to love, generosity, and a joy of simple pleasures. Granny will be deeply missed.
Brenda is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Shanan and Pam of Bismarck; one daughter Tiffany of Zap; four grandsons, Luke and Rachel Josund and Carson Weigum of Watford City, Seth Weigum of Fargo and Dylan Weigum of Beulah; one great-granddaughter, Micah Josund; one brother, Steve Scheid; one brother-in-law, Marvin Weigum and one sister-in-law, Carol Weigum; one god-daughter, Melanie Gion of Beulah and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dale; her parents; four sisters-in-law, Delores Sailer, Alma Grant, Naomi Pachl and Sharon Weigum; five brothers-in-law, Harold and Gilbert Weigum, Otto Sailer, Ken Grant and Ted Pachl and one nephew.
