Carl O Schwalbe

               Carl O. Schwalbe, 85, of Center, passed away, Thursday, February 17, 2022, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST, Friday, February 25, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Center, with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery, north of Center.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

            Carl was born on August 15, 1936, to Fred and Ida (Lueneburg) Schwalbe in New Salem, ND.  He was raised and educated in Center graduating in 1955.  He attended Wahpeton State College for a time for welding and mechanics.

            He returned to the farm and worked with his dad.  They eventually formed a partnership with his dad and two brothers which became known as North Star Angus Ranch in 1965.  Carl enjoyed working with the livestock especially the horses.  He used a horse team to do the hay raking and feed the cattle in the wintertime.  Carl worked on the farm his entire life.  He was known to help the neighbors whenever it was needed.

            Carl liked hunting, archery, and golf.  He was also a skilled welder. He was active in Luther League and the senior church choir.  He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

            Carl is survived by one brother, Rolland (Brenda) Schwalbe of Center; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lida (Gordon) Wilson, Lois Schwalbe; one brother, Loren (Addie) Schwalbe.
