Curtis Sailer

Curtis Sailer, 59, of Hazen, ND passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Sanford Health, Bismarck, ND. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen with Pastor Mark Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT on Monday, September 27 at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen.

Curt was born on March 5, 1962 in Hazen to Levi and Eldora (Miller) Sailer. He grew up and attended school in Hazen and graduated from Hazen High School. He went on to attend UND and BSC. Curt worked for area farmers when he was younger, as well as the Hazen Elevator and Krause’s SuperValu. He began working at DGC on July 25, 1983 as an operations technician. He continued working there, becoming a tech 5, until June 2021 when be began vacationing out to retirement.

On May 29, 1993, Curt married Sandi Barbie and the couple had three children together. On June 16, 2016, Curt married Carol Pettersen.

Curt was a leader for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts since his son, Camden, was young. He was still a leader at the time of his death, serving the organization for many years. Curt also enjoyed cars in his earlier years and belonged to the Prairie Rose Car Club, acting as president for several years.

He found another hobby later in life, restoring vintage gas pumps and signs. Curt enjoyed going to auctions with Carol and friends, finding the right one at the right price. His collection was nearly completed.

Curt was a hard worker, loved to joke and would strike up conversations with strangers and become friends instantly. Curt’s personality was magnetic, he was one of a kind.

Curt is survived by his wife, Carol of Hazen; his children, Camden (girlfriend, Kayla Seime), Keaton and Medora, all of Hazen; his stepchildren, Zachary Huber of Wahpeton and Nicole (Ryan) Ries of Fargo; his brother, Jason Sailer of Bismarck; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
