********ANNOUNCEMENT: DAVE'S SERVICE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO MONDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2022 AT 1:00 PM CST DUE TO BLIZZARD CONDITIONS********
David (Dave) Hausauer, 100, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2022, at the Knife River Care Center in Beulah. Services will be held at 1:00 PM CST, Friday, December 16, 2022, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Beulah, with Pastor Kent Sperry officiating. Burial will follow in the Beulah City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
David Hausauer was born at home, on the family farm, on August 13, 1922, to Phillip and Christina (Flemmer) Hausauer. He was raised and educated south of Beulah. Dave worked for various farmers in the Beulah area in his younger years and also worked for Burlington Northern Railroad. In 1946 he became employed with Northern Improvement where he worked as a truck driver until 1950. He then went to work for Bill Kirchmeier in Bismarck until 1957. On October 3, 1953, he married Anna Unruh of Beulah. In 1957 the couple moved to Moses Lake, Washington. Dave worked road construction until 1980 when he began working at the Ranch and Hardware Store. This was one of his favorite jobs. The ladies at the store said Dave could fix anything. He was their “jack of all trades”. He worked there until retiring in the early 2000’s. Anna passed away on May 3, 2003. In June of 2004 Dave moved back to Beulah to be closer to family.
Dave enjoyed fishing, playing pool, a good game of pinochle, bowling and golfing. He golfed well into his 90’s. He always told the story of being able to drive the ball as far as the much younger golfers, but his ball always went straight and landed on the fairway, much to the frustration of the younger ones.
Dave also enjoyed a good cup of coffee with cookies or donuts. This was his daily breakfast for most of his 100 years.
He is survived by his two step children, Joyce (Schmidt) Mclanahan and (Arlen) Rick (Teri) Schmidt; three step grandchildren, Shawn Mclanahan, Troy Mclanahan and Eric Schmidt; one step great grandchild, Shawn (Jr) Mclanahan; four sisters, Pauline Frank, Elsie (Wilbert) Opp, Ella Fandrich, Linda (Tom) Dallman; numerous sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Christina; his wife, Anna; seven brothers, Carl, Reinhold, Alex, Herb, Fred, Gary and Dale Hausauer; three sisters, Ida Voegele, Martha Huber and Viola Martin.
Arrangements conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
