February 17, 1958 ~ March 9, 2023 (age 65) 65 Years Old
Dean Stiefel, 65 years old, of Stanton, ND passed away Thursday March 9, 2023. Services will be held at 2:00 PM CST on Monday March 13, 2023 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stanton with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Burial will follow at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, Stanton.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dean was born in Hazen, ND to Calvin & LuAlice (Elliott) Stiefel on February 17, 1958. He resided in Stanton and it was the only town he ever called home. Dean married in 1981 and had his two girls, Teresa and Mandy, in the years following while operating the family farm.
“He lived his life how he wanted and no one was going to tell him different.” He was the definition of stubborn but he lived to see his grand-kids and daughters. In the time prior to his passing, he thoroughly enjoyed his conversations with friends and his siblings. His favorite place was seated on his stool at the farm looking out his window at the view. He never tired of seeing how beautiful his land was made.
Dean is survived by his long-time love, Kathy Thieling; his daughters, Teresa Stiefel, Mandy (Luke) Fredrickson and bonus daughter, Britt Thieling; His grandkids (who softened his stubbornness), Gage, Ivy, Owen, Sutter and Lyla; his mom, LuAlice (Dave) Stockert; his siblings, Wanda Knutson, Carlyle & Kelly Stiefel; his nephews, Luke (Jackie) McKay, AJ (Beth) Knutson and Preston (Jessica) McKay.
Dean is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Stiefel and his dear sister, Brenda McKay; along with his grandparents, uncles and aunts and his many friends that were taken too soon.
*For those who can’t make it for any multitude of reasons, crack a cold Bud Light and share a story of my Dad to anyone that will listen. -Mandy*
