Delphine Traxel, 90, of Golden Valley died on April 30, 2026, at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah, ND. Services will be held at 11:00 AM CT, Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah, ND, with Rev. Toby Heller officiating. Burial will follow in the Beulah City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Delphine was born north of Zap, ND on March 20, 1936, to Ernest and Agatha (Mittelsteadt) Weigum. She was baptized on April 19, 1936 and confirmed on June 24, 1951, at St. John’s Wittenburg Church, north of Zap. Delphine was raised and educated in the Golden Valley area. She completed her GED in 1984.
On August 1, 1954, she married Wilbert Traxel at St John's Wittenburg Church. Together they farmed north of Golden Valley until Wilbert's death June 24, 1991. Following his death, their son, James and Delphine continued to farm.
Delphine enjoyed cooking, baking, music, dancing, gardening and traveling. In exchange for maintenance work done by her son-in-law, she would bake kuchen for him.
Delphine is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Robert) Greenshields, Dodge, Darlene Traxel, Bismarck and one daughter-in-law Susan Traxel, Golden Valley; one sister, Shirley Stern, Golden Valley; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Ritzke, Minot, Amy Traxel, Almont, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbert; son, James; father and mother-in-law, George and Hulda (Kraft) Traxel; one sister, Alice (Harold) Entze; brothers-in-law, Raymond Stern, Harold (Ruth), Richard (infant), Robert, Theodore Ritzke, Sydney Mertz, James Gerber; and one sister-in-law, Beata Mertz Gerber.
