Donald James (Jim) Albers, 87, passed away June 9, 2023 at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, ND. Cremation has taken place and there will be a graveside service with military rites held at Hannover Cemetery, Hannover, ND, Friday, June 16th at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the graveside service there will be a Celebration of Life and Luncheon at the Center Civic Center, 312 Lincoln Ave, Center, ND.
Jim was born April 3, 1936 and spent his childhood with his parents, Hulda (Henke) and Albert Albers, on the family farm at Hannover, ND. He attended school through eighth grade in Hannover and later earned his GED. As a teenager Jim worked for local farmers and on construction. Jim volunteered for the US Army in his early 20’s and was proud to serve his country from 1958-1960.
On March 28, 1958, before leaving for a tour of duty in Korea, he married Lucille Bickel in New Salem, ND. After returning to the states from Korea, Jim & Lucille lived in Barstow, CA where their son, James J Albers, was born in 1965. They moved their family back to Hannover, ND in 1968 when Jim began his 30 year career with Basin Electric, retiring in 1998. Jim & Lucille spent 28 years living in Hannover, ND before moving to Pick City, ND in 1996.
Jim loved the outdoors and had a special passion for fishing or hunting with his beloved son and best friend, Jim, and later on his daughter-in-law, Tricia, granddaughters and great grandchildren. He loved his family dearly, they were his whole world.
Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucille, New Salem, ND, his son, James J (Tricia) Albers, Stanton, ND, three granddaughters, Victoria (Jared) Danzeisen, Manning, ND, Kayla Plesuk, Center, ND and Alyssa Albers and her fiancé Austin Weigel, Center, ND, five great grandchildren, Luke and Emery Danzeisen and Mya, Ajax and Charleigh Plesuk. Two sisters, Fayette (Jim) Harrison, Moorhead, MN, Linda (David) McAdoo, Bismarck, ND and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents and two brothers Keith Henke and Everett Albers.
