Donna (Weigum) Alton

Donna Jean Alton, 68, of Hazen, ND went home to meet Jesus on September 6, 2023. Services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Barbot Funeral Chapel, Beulah with Pastor John Whitaker officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hazen City Cemetery.

Donna was born on October 17, 1954 to Alvin and Martha (Schuh) Weigum at Hazen Hospital. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church, Golden Valley, ND. Donna also attended school in Golden Valley. In 1972, she moved to Hazen and began working at Hazen Hospital in dietary. It was at this time that she met George E. Alton. They were married on June 28, 1974. Donna and George had two children, April and Chad. Donna continued her career in 1982 as ward clerk at Sakakawea Medical Center until 2011 when she transferred to medical records. She worked in this department until her retirement.

Donna and George bought a small hobby farm outside of Hazen in the early 1980s. Here they raised their children and appreciated country living. Donna enjoyed scrapbooking, floral gardening and collecting Hallmark ornaments. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her daughter, April Alton of Hazen; son, Chad (Melissa) Alton of Beulah; four grandchildren, Brooke Rudolph, Dallas Alton, Ayvah Berg, Chantel (Anthony) Deavers; six great-grandchildren, Williow Miller, Ivory and Brixten Bauer, Aleczander, Gemma and Bellamy Deavers; two brothers, Jerry (Joyce) Weigum of South Carolina and Wendell (Kathy) Weigum of North Dakota; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, Alvin and Martha; and one brother, Dallas Weigum.
