Obituary

Donna Wilhelm, 73, died unexpectedly in her sleep on January 16, 2023 at her home in Huntley, MT.  She was born February 18, 1949 in Chattanooga, TN to Charles and Mary Lee Baker.  She had two children from a previous marriage, Tammy Lynn and Paul, Jr.

Donna loved all of her family and really enjoyed the last few years being close to her daughter Tammy, son-in-law Mike, granddaughter Skyler (Matt) Winter, grandson Robert (Ashleigh) Cozzens and great-granddaughter Chloe Cozzens.   She enjoyed going to rodeos and when Tammy was in high school, she loved watching Tammy compete in her many rodeo events.  She would make videos and oh the pictures she would get of Tammy in competition.

Donna married her true love, Vic Wilhelm, on November 11, 1995 and they were happily married for 22 years until her husband passed away in 2018.  She and Vic lived in the country on a small place in Halliday, ND.  She loved the country life and enjoyed all the bonus family she inherited when she and Vic married.

While living in Georgia, she became a private duty nurse for Elisa Kalin, mother of Christine Kraus.  A special friendship developed between Christine, her husband Rene and Donna.  When she decided to move to ND in 1995 to be with Vic, Christine and Rene wanted Donna to continue to care for Christine’s mom, so they all made the trek to ND together.

Donna was a hard worker and would pitch in wherever and whenever she was needed.  She enjoyed cooking and baking pies, especially pecan pie for her son-in-law Mike at Thanksgiving.  She loved the annual Christmas baking tradition that took place every year with Tammy, Skyler, Ashleigh and Chloe.  She worked for many years as a cook in many different restaurants.  She also had a passion for putting floral arrangements together and had her own flower shop, Donna’s Flowers-N-Stuff in Halliday and Killdeer, ND.  She later spent many hours working and laughing with her friend Connie in Connie’s flower shop in Beulah, ND.  A year ago, she joined the team at Ace Hardware in Billings and enjoyed the family atmosphere she had while working there.

Donna loved her dogs; Bubbles, Happy, Sprinkles and the new one, Trixie.  They were her such a big part of her life and it would not be uncommon to see at least one of her dogs with her in her pickup.  She also enjoyed Teddy Bears as she loved what they stood for and the comfort they provided.

Donna is survived by her children; a daughter, Tammy (Mike) Cozzens and a son, Paul (Laurie) Boulden; bonus children, Roxie (Donavan) Schmidt; Rod (Brenda) Wilhelm; Rockey (Stephanie) Wilhelm and Robley Wilhelm; grandchildren, bonus grandchildren, great grandchildren and bonus great-grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Vic Wilhelm.

A mass service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 5 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Halliday, ND.  Burial service will be held immediately following at the Halliday Cemetery in Halliday, ND with a lunch to follow at the church.
