DOROTHY (BRINKMAN) EISSINGER, age 90, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen, ND, while on hospice care. A private family service will be held.
Dorothy was born to Amos and Lydia (Nill) Brinkman in Danzig, ND. Dorothy attended grade school in Danzig, and junior high and high school in Wishek, graduating in 1947. She then attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA in 1948. In 1950, she married Art Eissinger at Zion Lutheran Church in Wishek. Dorothy traveled with Art as he worked for a national shoe chain in several states. In 1969, they moved back to ND and opened a clothing and variety store in Parshall, ND. After 20 years they closed the store, and then sold for wholesale companies to retail stores. They also spent several years working summers in Medora. After they left Parshall, they lived in the Bottineau area at Lake Metigoshe for a few years. They then moved to Hazen, where they remained until their deaths. Dorothy loved traveling, reading, being involved in the community, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by four children, Steven (Eda) Eissinger of Las Vegas, NV, Bruce (Gail) of Glendive, MT, Christopher (Erin) of Boulder, CO, Lisa (Jerry) Ryan of Hazen; five grandchildren, Holly, Nichole, Ava, Alexandria, and Scott; six great-grandchildren, Willow, Noah, Bodhi, Leo, Marley, and Audrey; two sisters, Avalon Eiden and Marilyn Stair; and two brothers, Amos Jr. and Jim.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Art, and her parents.
