On Friday, October 8, 2021, Duane Flemmer of Fort Mohave, AZ passed away at the age of 71. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and an all-around good guy. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah, ND with Pastor Dan Paulson officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah City Cemetery.
Duane was born on January 22, 1950 and grew up in Beulah, ND. During the Vietnam War, he volunteered to join the Air Force and spent time in several countries overseas. On February 6, 1989, he married Linda Savelkoul and ended up stuck with her four children too. Over the next thirty years, he would prove to be an exceptional father to those kids and an equally impressive grandpa to his twelve grandchildren.
Duane worked most of his adult life at Coyote Station, a coal-fired power plant in Beulah. He was a member of the local golf course and participated in leagues for bowling, pool, and poker. Thanks to his interest in such leisure activities, he took to retirement very well. Unfortunately, cancer doesn’t give a pass to nice guys who worked hard and were just trying to enjoy their retirement. As such, his life was cut too short and he was cheated out of at least a couple more rounds of golf.
Duane was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia, his father, Karl, and his sister, LaVain.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, his four children, Jennifer (Chris), Dawn (Rob), Stuart (Rebecca), and Savannah (Brandy), a dozen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several cousins, a niece, and a nephew.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
