Duane R. Unterseher

Duane Unterseher, 75, of New Salem, ND passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Sanford Health, Bismarck, ND. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Hazen with Pastor Kirk Peters officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Duane was born at home on February 15, 1943 to Herbert and Hulda (Baier) Unterseher. He was raised and educated at Springbrook School #2 near the family farm. Duane farmed and ranched his whole life. From time to time, he worked at the local butcher shop and at the bar. On September 29, 1978, Duane married Marilyn Mosbrucker. Duane worked on the farm until the early 1990s when he retired from farming but still ran cattle. In the late 2000s, Duane also retired from ranching. He continued to live at the farm until his passing.

Duane enjoyed his coffee time on Fridays and also loved his cats.

Duane is survived by his wife Marilyn of New Salem; two sons, Dean Unterseher of Hazen and Shane Freiz of Fargo; one daughter, Tina Freiz of Las Vegas, NV; one grandchild, Brandon (Maria) Unterseher of Hazen; three great-grandchildren, Makaela, Kendra and Paisley Unterseher of Hazen; and two sisters, Lucille (Elmer) Lauf of Hazen and Fern Unterseher of Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Diane Unterseher; one brother, Lester; and his cats, Sam and Tye.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
