Edgar William Kilber

Edgar Kilber, 98, of Hazen, ND passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen, ND. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CT on Monday, December 23, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Hazen with Pastor Al Beyer officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 PM CT at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Edgar was born on the family farm to Martin and Amalie (Lauf) Kilber on February 14, 1926. He attended country school until the eighth grade. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army. After he was discharged from the Army he enrolled at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND where he obtained a degree in diesel mechanics. Edgar married Gladys Blocker and the couple had one son, Kelby.

Edgar was a truck driver for all of his working years. He had a strong faith and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed being by the river, socializing and the occasional trip to the casino.

He is survived by his son, Kelby; one granddaughter; two brothers, Albert (Marguerite) and Robert Kilber; two sisters-in-law, DeLora Kilber and Ardis Kilber; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Elmer (Wilma) Kilber, Alice Kilber, Elsie Miller, Irene (Walter) Mohl, Loren Kilber, Helen Kilber and Martin Kilber, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery Foundation.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
